Zhejiang province has announced plans to enhance its electrical grid with next-generation transformers, aiming to reduce electricity losses and improve operational efficiency. This initiative supports the development of a green power grid and aligns with China’s broader goals for energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
State Grid Zhejiang Taizhou Power Supply Co conducted inspections of high-energy consumption transformers, identifying 109 units requiring replacement. The company estimates that the upgrade will reduce power losses by approximately 470,000 kilowatt-hours annually.
Technicians noted major malfunctions in aging equipment, including oil leakage, emphasizing the necessity of timely replacements for safety and efficiency. The introduction of energy-saving transformers is expected to benefit upstream enterprises and downstream users, delivering economic, social, and environmental advantages.
This initiative is part of China's strategy to modernize its power infrastructure. The country has committed to a significant investment in critical energy equipment, projected to grow by over 25% by 2027 compared to 2023. Key priorities include modernizing distribution networks, deploying smart meters, and enhancing transformer capacities in older residential areas.
State Grid Zhejiang Taizhou has pledged to leverage technological innovation to ensure the grid's reliability and efficiency while fostering a clean, low-carbon energy system.
