Enersense International Plc has been awarded a contract by Fingrid to construct a new 400/110 kV substation in the municipality of Ii, located in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. This project is part of a broader effort to enhance the region’s energy infrastructure and facilitate the connection of new wind farms to the national grid.
The new Herva Substation will increase the capacity of the electricity transmission network, ensuring a more reliable supply and enabling the transmission of energy from the growing wind power sector in Northern Finland. The substation will play a crucial role in strengthening the region's energy resilience, improving both local grid reliability and facilitating the energy transition to clean sources.
In addition to the substation, Enersense will also construct a power line from Herva to Nuojuankangas, further enhancing grid connectivity. The project is expected to continue until the end of 2027, with a contract value of approximately EUR 15 million. This work will be recorded in the Power segment order book for the second quarter of 2025.
Anssi Niiles, Vice President of Substations at Enersense, expressed the company’s satisfaction with continuing its partnership with Fingrid. The project is set to provide significant support for the local energy grid and Finland’s broader shift toward renewable energy.
The Herva Substation will mark another milestone in Enersense’s ongoing commitment to the green energy transition, following similar projects in the region.
