Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) and Harmony Energy have successfully energized Clay Tye, Europe's joint-largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) by MWh. This milestone, powered by Wilson Power Solutions' transformers connected to Tesla Megapacks, marks a significant leap in sustainable energy infrastructure.
Located in Essex, the Clay Tye site boasts a substantial capacity of 99MW/198MWh, solidifying its position as one of Europe's leading operational projects of its kind. With this impressive capacity, Clay Tye can efficiently power over 300,000 UK homes for two-hour intervals, contributing significantly to the region's energy demands.
Equipped with 52 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries and Tesla's Autobidder AI software for efficient project management and energy capacity sharing, Clay Tye seamlessly integrates into the UK Power Networks distribution network. This integration is made possible by Wilson Power Solutions' 4.2MVA 33kV/480V-480V Wilson T2 Ecotrans Distribution Transformers, along with 150kVA 33kV/415V Auxiliary Transformers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Wilson Power Solutions' transformers were selected for their Ecodesign compliance, custom design tailored to the project's needs, seamless integration with Tesla Megapacks, and adherence to internationally recognized standards (BS and IEC). This makes them the preferred choice for large-scale battery energy storage projects, exemplifying Wilson's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the energy sector.
With Clay Tye now operational, Wilson Power Solutions strengthens its position as a key player in sustainable battery energy storage and solar projects in the UK. Having supplied transformers to all three of Europe's largest operational BESS by MWh, including Clay Tye, Bumpers, and Pillswood, Wilson Power Solutions continues to lead the way in providing bespoke solutions for transformative energy projects.
