Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has held a high-level meeting with Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electric Co., Ltd. (BTW), one of China’s largest transformer manufacturers, to explore deeper cooperation in power transmission and clean energy projects across Vietnam.
The meeting took place on May 28 in Hanoi and focused on expanding BTW’s role in Vietnam’s rapidly growing electricity sector. Through local partner HAMATRA Industries JSC, BTW is already involved in several major projects, including the supply of 500kV transformers for Chon Thanh and Duc Hoa substations, and 500kV shunt reactors for the Lao Cai substation.
Li Zhigang, Vice President of BTW, emphasized the company’s technical capabilities and experience in Vietnam. He stated that BTW is currently participating in multiple bidding packages and is actively producing equipment for existing contracts. Li also highlighted interest in supporting EVN’s strategic goals, including ventures into nuclear power, pumped storage hydropower, and LNG power generation.
Dang Hoang An, Chairman of EVN, welcomed the collaboration and encouraged BTW to continue aligning its technology offerings with Vietnam’s evolving infrastructure needs. He reiterated EVN’s commitment to partnering with reputable firms to modernize the national grid.
This meeting signals continued momentum in Vietnam’s energy modernization efforts, as the country pushes towards a more resilient and sustainable power system.
