Budapest, HUNGARY - The transformer units connect the renewable energy plants to the electricity grid, ensuring that the energy produced is not wasted.
Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. has announced that they have supplied a custom-designed transformer unit to the French wind farm developer Volkswind Gmbh. Ganz delivered a 70 MVA, 235 kV transformer unit for the Poste du Mont Varin wind farm in Fontaine-Uterte, in Northern France, for the company, which operates 61 wind farms in France.
According to GANZ Transformers, following the successful commission, their custom-designed transformer unit will transform the energy generated by the wind farms to the voltage level of the local electricity transmission grid, thus contributing greatly to the security of supply that is also essential for renewable energy production. The transformer units connect the renewable energy plants to the electricity grid, ensuring that the energy produced is not wasted.
"Following our cooperation in previous years, this is the first project with Volkswind Gmbh in the new era of Ganz, and an important part of this project was the on-site installation and testing of the transformer unit by our service team. Our long-term partnership with the French wind power developer lies on solid foundations, and it is further underlined by the fact that we will deliver another 75 MVA transformer unit to them in early 2023"- said Jan Prins, Managing Director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd.
