Ganz Metal Works Ltd. announces the resumption of production at its Szolnok plant in Hungary, marking a strategic move to strengthen its transformer manufacturing chain.
The plant, acquired by the parent company in 2021, will assemble steel structures for transformers, enhancing competitiveness and reducing supply chain vulnerabilities. With a €3.8 million development plan, Ganz aims to create 50 jobs, improve production technology, and increase energy efficiency, contributing to the revitalization of Szolnok's industrial tradition.
The restart of production aligns with Ganz's broader strategy to shorten supply chains and enhance security of supply. The Szolnok plant will play a pivotal role in manufacturing external steel structures for transformers, a task previously outsourced to Turkey. Ganz's investment ensures efficiency, shorter supply chains, and sustainability, contributing to the revival of Szolnok's industrial legacy. The company anticipates completing the full investment program by 2024.
Gergely Gál, Managing Director of Ganz Metal Works Ltd., emphasizes the importance of reducing dependence on external suppliers, enhancing manufacturing processes, and contributing to Szolnok's sustainability. This move aligns with Ganz's commitment to offering customers greater security and predictability. In addition to the Szolnok plant, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. recently announced the construction of a 2 MW solar park at its Tápiószele site, contributing to renewable energy goals.
