Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd., a key player in Europe's high-voltage electrical equipment market, has officially initiated the construction of a 2 MW solar park in Tápiószele, Hungary. This endeavor, conducted within the framework of the Energy Optimization Programme with an investment of around EUR 11 million, aims to significantly enhance the energy efficiency of the Tápiószele plant while promoting sustainability and renewable energy use.
The solar power plant, which spans a 3-hectare site at the transformer and rotating machine manufacturing facility, will play a pivotal role in the Energy Optimization Programme. Construction commenced on October 18, 2023, and the project is anticipated to conclude before the year's end. By the second quarter of 2024, a substantial portion of the plant's energy requirements will be met by solar power.
Ganz's commitment aligns with the European Union's objectives for reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable development. As part of the Energy Optimization Programme, the company intends to boost energy efficiency and the utilization of renewable energy in its manufacturing processes. Additionally, improvements in transformer and rotating equipment factory buildings will be implemented.
The company has received almost HUF 1.9 billion in non-repayable grants to support its sustainability goals under the Factory Rescue Programme, which aids large firms in energy efficiency and production investments. These grants enhance Ganz's international competitiveness and further the cause of sustainable energy usage.
Gergely Gál, Managing Director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd., emphasized the importance of this solar park as a crucial step in the company's comprehensive sustainability efforts. He noted that this initiative not only reduces their reliance on fossil fuels but also enhances production efficiency, making their services more competitive and sustainable.

The surge in demand for transformers due to grid integration requirements for renewable energy sources in the European Union has bolstered Ganz's prospects. The company's growth is evident, with a projected turnover of over EUR 70 million in 2023, compared to EUR 43 million in 2022. Consequently, Ganz has already allocated its entire production capacity for 2024 and half of the capacity for 2025.
For Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd., this initiative marks a significant step towards sustainability, energy efficiency, and a greener future.
