PARIS, FRANCE AND OSLO, NORWAY — The project would involve everything from the design, engineering, delivery to the erection and powering-up of six bays.
GE has been awarded a contract by Norwegian utility Elvia, one of the largest distribution system operators (DSO) in Norway, to deliver a new substation in Heggedal, close to Oslo’s urban area.
The new substation would a pilot digital substation project and would be equipped with SF6 free gas-insulated switchgear and a process bus with digital instrument transformers as well as an online digital monitoring system.
The entire scope of the project would include the design, engineering, delivery, and erection & commissioning of six bays of insulated switchgear and associated electrical balance of the plant. The new substation would also include a new digital solution with low power instrument transformers (LPIT), an online digital monitoring system to digitally transfer data via the IEC 61850 protocol.
“Our contract with Elvia demonstrates that utility operators are becoming increasingly aware of their environmental footprint and the impact it has on their community and the world around them,” said Espen Bostadlokken, Commercial Leader for the Nordics region at GE’s Grid Solutions.
