Zurich, SWITZERLAND - This project supports Eversource’s sustainability goals, including meeting targets to achieve carbon neutrality in their own operations by 2030.
Hitachi Energy has announced that they will install the world’s first eco-efficient EconiQ™ 420-kilovolt (kV) circuit-breaker for Eversource in the US. This technology eliminates sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), so it will be the first 420 kV SF6-free circuit-breaker installation in the country.
According to Hitachi Energy, this project supports Eversource’s sustainability goals, including meeting targets to achieve carbon neutrality in their own operations by 2030. Using innovative technologies to replace or reduce SF6 in their 345 kV transmission system is a key part of that effort.
“At Eversource, we are committed to building a cleaner energy future for our customers and achieving our goal of having our own operations carbon-neutral by 2030,” said Aftab Khan, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Eversource.
