Hitachi Energy Vietnam has donated four transformers to support Northern Power Corporation (EVN NPC) in restoring the power grid after typhoon Yagi caused severe damage to Northern Vietnam in September 2024. The handover took place on October 29, with Hai Duong Power Company Limited (Hai Duong PC) receiving the equipment.
Vu Anh Phuong, Deputy General Director of EVN NPC, described the typhoon as the most destructive in five years, leaving the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hai Duong with extensive damage to power infrastructure. He expressed gratitude to Hitachi Energy for their contribution, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration in training, maintenance, and technology sharing for a resilient and sustainable grid.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Viet Phuong, Transformers Factory Operations Director, highlighted Hitachi Energy’s rapid response. "We acted swiftly, mobilizing employee donations and leveraging our CSR program to provide these transformers," he said. The company also introduced its recently expanded transformer factory in Bac Ninh, which uses environmentally friendly materials such as SR3 ester oil to support the growing renewable energy market.
The donation aligns with Hitachi Energy Vietnam’s commitment to fostering sustainable energy development while helping communities recover from natural disasters.
