INDIANA - American Electric Power’s Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is planning an approximate $40m investment to upgrade the electric transmission network in eastern Indiana through the Randolph County Area Improvements Project.
The project includes rebuilding about 19 miles of 69 kV transmission line, as well as upgrading the Modoc and Lynn substations.
The project area includes the City of Winchester, the towns of Modoc and Lynn, as well as the townships of Washington, White River, and Union in Randolph County.
Construction is expected to occur from early 2022 to early 2024, with the facilities placed in service in early 2024 and restoration activities completed from early 2024 to spring 2024, reports Transmission Hub.
The improvements aim to increase electric reliability in the area, reduce the likelihood of outages, and speed recovery of service when outages occur.
