Berlin, Germany: In our endeavor to bring you the latest updates from the world of power systems and transformers, APC Media, publisher of Transformers Technology, Power Systems Technology, and Women in Power Systems brands, had the distinct opportunity to visit CWIEME, one of the industry's foremost events. During our visit, we had the privilege of sitting down with Bradley Smeeton of Hyve, organizer of CWIEME. Bradley is the esteemed Event Director for the CWIEME event. Join us as we delve into the corporate realm and uncover valuable insights from Bradley's wealth of experience at CWIEME.
APC: Please tell us a bit about your company's history and experience in the industry and the products or services you offer.
BS: We believe that when people come together, powerful things happen. We’re Hyve, a global events company that does things differently. We connect global industry communities through unmissable in-person events, powerful online experiences, and ground-breaking meeting programmes. Our events deliver a game-changing impact for people, businesses, and beyond. That might mean securing investment that takes a struggling business stratospheric. It could be landing a deal that puts products on the shelves of a giant retailer. Or it might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from the brightest minds in major industries, from e-commerce to energy, fashion to fintech. The purpose of every one of our events is to bring the people who power major industries together – and open a world of potential. At the same time, we’re using our events as platforms for progress, to drive the conversation across the world’s biggest industries on crucial topics like sustainability, diversity, and ethical business. These moments can change lives. And making those connections motivates us every single day.
APC: Are there any upcoming projects or partnerships that your company is working on that you are particularly excited about?
BS: This year, at CWIEME Berlin 2023, we’ve launched Connect @ CWIEME, facilitating over 4,000 introductory high-value meetings at dedicated times throughout the show, today (23rd) and tomorrow (24th). Designed to supplement the event experience for both buyers and suppliers, crucial data points on all participating visitors ensure informed decisions can be made pre-show about whom to meet with, allowing participants to arrive on site with a schedule of pre-arranged meetings with those well suited to meet their project needs.
APC: What are your thoughts on the CWIEME so far? Have you seen any interesting developments or trends being showcased at the event?
BS: Day one has been excellent with visitor numbers exceeding this time last year! This is a particularly exciting time to be delivering the largest international gathering of the Electrical Engineering community, and we are so pleased to see this reflected in the numbers. As well as launching our brand-new tech-enabled meetings programme Connect @ CWIEME we have launched Education Day, starting this Thursday 25th, where we will have students from universities attend sessions from key global players giving them the opportunity to speak to our exhibitors about future career opportunities. We are really excited to see the next generation of CWIEME attending and being inspired by what they can see and learn at the show.
Our content agenda also has been delivering a programme of highly-curated sessions this year, bringing together the entire supply chain. The presentations are tailored for engineers, academics, senior management, and industry professionals from the coil winding, transformer, electric motor, and generator industries. With a mix of strategic and technical talks, the sessions and panels are covering the biggest topics across the industry right now. Today’s content highlights included our keynote speaker David Hunt, on the Central Stage, discussing clean energy & mobility transitions and what this means for the supply chains, plus over on the E-mobility stage we were joined by Claudio Vittori who gave an excellent talk on Trends and Developments in E-Mobility.
APC: Thank you, Bradley!
