JST Power Equipment has announced the opening of a new padmount transformer manufacturing plant in Wytheville, Virginia. The 45,000-square-foot facility will focus on small-batch manufacturing of three-phase padmount transformers and serve as a customer experience center, service hub, and R&D facility.
The new factory aims to strengthen JST Power's presence in North America, following its recent expansion in Nogales, Mexico. The Wytheville location offers strategic advantages, including proximity to major highways and a skilled workforce.
“This is not only an opportunity to bring more jobs to the area, but it also allows us to further expand our manufacturing capabilities,” said Matthew Polk, Executive Vice President and General Manager at JST Power. Initially, the site will employ 25-30 manufacturing workers and 10-20 office professionals.
Local leaders have welcomed JST Power’s investment. Mayor Beth Taylor of Wytheville stated, “This growth is a testament to the hard-working people who make this area their home.” Chairman Brian Vaught of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors added, “We celebrate this announcement and hope to support their continued growth.”
With increasing demand in sectors like renewable energy, industrial projects, and utilities, JST Power's expansion underscores its commitment to delivering innovative transformer solutions to the U.S. market.
