Kaduna Electric, a leading electricity distribution company in Nigeria, has embarked on a significant project to completely overhaul the Kofar Doka Injection Substation in Zaria. The company aims to enhance the reliability and safety of electricity supply to the area by rehabilitating the substation and installing new equipment.
The decision to prioritize the rehabilitation of the Kofar Doka Injection Substation came after an unfortunate accident in December 2022, which was attributed to equipment failure and obsolescence. The management of Kaduna Electric recognizes the need to upgrade the infrastructure to prevent such incidents in the future. Engr. Yusuf Usman Yahaya, the managing director of Kaduna Electric, emphasized the company's commitment to revamping and modernizing its network infrastructure. The rehabilitation of the Kofar Doka Injection Substation is the first of several planned projects aimed at transforming and upgrading critical injection substations within the company's franchise area.
Upon completion, the rehabilitation project is expected to bring significant improvements to the stability and reliability of electricity supply in Zaria City, Wusasa, Teaching Hospital, Kofar Kibo, and Gaskiya 11KV feeder. The new equipment and upgraded infrastructure will contribute to a sustainable and safe electricity service delivery for customers. The management of Kaduna Electric has set a timeline of two weeks for the completion and commissioning of the rehabilitation of the Kofar Doka Injection Substation, signaling the beginning of a series of similar projects across their franchise area.
