Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Koncar Elektroindustrija has achieved a significant milestone by delivering the first set of environmentally friendly transformers to the Latvian power transmission system operator Augstsprieguma Tikls (AST). This delivery, as announced in Koncar's monthly newsletter, comprises 20 110 kV power transformers, crucial for supporting the newly developed 60 MW Jaunolaine transformer substation.
The deployment of these transformers is a pivotal step in the construction of Latvia's most extensive solar power plant to date. It marks a significant move for the Baltic nation towards large-scale renewable energy generation. While the precise value of the deal remains undisclosed, it underscores the strategic importance of environmentally sustainable infrastructure development.
Koncar Instrument Transformers, a unit of Koncar Elektroindustrija, is set to dispatch an additional array of instrument transformers to Latvia over the next 14 months. These transformers, designed for voltage levels of up to 362 kV, primarily feature biodegradable liquid insulation from Koncar's eco-conscious Green line series. This innovation aims to reduce environmental impact and carbon emissions while enhancing operational safety.
The positive impact of Koncar's initiative is reflected in the market response, with its shares trading 3.94% higher on the Zagreb bourse. This achievement not only underscores Koncar's commitment to sustainable practices but also highlights the collaborative efforts driving the transition towards renewable energy in Latvia and beyond.
