KONČAR, a Croatian engineering and power systems company, has secured a $20 million contract with Vattenfall Eldistribution AB for the turnkey construction of a new transformer substation in Munksund, Sweden.
The facility, named PT 46 Munksund, will be integrated into the regional power system through a 130 kV transmission line, increasing the transmission capacity for local distributor Pite Energi.
This contract marks KONČAR's largest individual deal in the substation construction sector to date and highlights its continued expansion in the Swedish and broader European energy markets. The company has had a long-standing presence in Sweden, delivering transformers and substations for years.
The project reinforces the strategic partnership between KONČAR and Vattenfall, while supporting infrastructure improvements and grid reliability in northern Sweden.
