
Končar has signed a contract with Vattenfall Eldistribution AB Sweden for the construction of a new PT 46 Munksund transformer station, valued at 202.5 million SEK (approximately €18.4 million). The project, which will be delivered as a turnkey solution, marks Končar’s largest single contract in transformer station construction to date.
The new facility will be integrated into Sweden’s existing 130 kV transmission network, enhancing the capacity of Pite Energi’s local distribution grid. This deal reinforces Končar’s long-standing presence in the Swedish energy market and expands opportunities for future contracts in the power sector.
This contract builds on Končar’s previous successes in Sweden. In 2023, Končar - Inženjering (KET) secured two contracts with Svenska Kraftnät (SVK), Sweden’s transmission system operator, bringing the company’s total contracted projects in the country to over €20 million. T
Due to Sweden's stringent market requirements and high competition, Končar views the region as strategically significant. Gordan Kolak, CEO of Končar, emphasized the importance of expanding operations in Sweden, noting that it plays a key role in strengthening Croatia’s industrial presence in the European market.
