Linxon has been awarded a contract by TAQA Transmission to construct a 400/220 kV substation at ICAD-4 in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), UAE. This full turnkey EPC project is part of TAQA Transmission’s strategy to support the retirement of the Sas Al Nakheel generation plant and address the growing power demands driven by Abu Dhabi’s ongoing mega projects.
The scope of the project includes the supply of 400 kV GIS switchgear, 220 kV GIS, 33 kV GIS, 500 MVA power transformers, and associated control and protection systems. Additionally, Linxon will manage the substation control and monitoring systems (SCMS), telecom and LDC integration, as well as all civil construction, firefighting, and MEP works.
The ICAD-4 substation is slated for commissioning by 2028, reinforcing Linxon’s commitment to supporting infrastructure development in the region. Hassan Merhi, Managing Director for Linxon Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, highlighted that the project is a key step in the company’s goal to help grow cities and expand communities through enhanced infrastructure.
This project is expected to significantly enhance the region’s electrical grid capacity, playing a crucial role in ensuring the stability and reliability of power supply in the UAE.
