North Luzon, the Philippines - The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines has completed the second stage of its North Luzon Substation Upgrading Project, energizing new power transformers across several substations.
The project aims to cater to the growing load demand and provide N-1 contingency to substations in NGCP's North Luzon Region. The upgrades ensure that customers do not experience power interruptions due to failures of existing transformers and power circuit breakers. The Philippines Grid Code mandates N-1 contingency, which allows the grid to withstand a major system disturbance with minimal or no impact on the system. NGCP has already energized its 100MVA Transformer 1 in Tuguegarao and San Esteban Substations, and a 100-MV Transformer in Laoag Substation. Further upgrades are expected in La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija.
