Nordic Solar has commenced construction on the Hultsfred solar park, marking the company's largest solar project in Sweden to date. With a capacity of 92 MWp, this significant development is expected to connect to the Swedish electricity grid by the end of 2025, delivering an annual output of 100 GWh. This capacity is sufficient to supply electricity to approximately 26,600 European households each year.
The Hultsfred solar park is Nordic Solar's second largest project overall and a critical part of their broader strategy to develop large-scale solar parks across Sweden. The company's current development portfolio boasts over 600 MWp of potential projects. "Sweden is one of our neighboring countries and an important country for us to invest in," stated Nikolaj Holtet Hoff, CEO of Nordic Solar. "Our project in Hultsfred highlights how Sweden's sunlit regions play a key role in promoting solar energy in the Nordic countries."
A crucial aspect of the Hultsfred project is its connection to the Swedish electricity grid via a new large transformer substation, which E.ON Sweden has recently begun constructing. Nordic Solar participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the substation at the end of April. This new infrastructure will facilitate the grid connection of several solar park projects, collectively reaching a capacity of nearly 200 MWp, with the Hultsfred solar park contributing 92 MWp. Additionally, Nordic Solar is developing its first Swedish solar park, the Lindesberg solar park, with a capacity of 22 MWp, further solidifying their commitment to renewable energy in the region.
