The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has successfully installed a 250 MVA autotransformer at the 500 kV Grid Station Sheikhupura, significantly increasing its power transmission capacity.
The upgrade involved replacing the existing 160 MVA, 220/132 kV autotransformer (T-8) with a new 250 MVA, 220/132 kV unit. The installation was completed ahead of the scheduled shutdown, which was set to last until August 14, 2024. The NTDC team managed to finish the project three days earlier by deploying additional resources.
This enhancement at Sheikhupura Grid Station is designed to bolster the station’s loading capacity, providing substantial relief to the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) service areas. The increased capacity will ensure a more reliable power supply for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers in the region.
The successful completion of this project will contribute to more stable power delivery and improved service quality across the network.
