ProInversión, the Private Investment Promotion Agency, announced that it will award 12 electrical transmission and substation projects between August and December 2024. These projects, commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), aim to enhance the electricity infrastructure across several regions of Peru, benefiting approximately 7 million residents. The total investment for these projects is estimated at $676 million.
The projects are categorized into three groups. Group 2, which includes five projects requiring an investment of $441 million, is set to be awarded by the end of August. These projects will benefit 4 million people in Lima, Ica, and Ayacucho. Key projects in this group include the "Chilca CTM-Carabayllo 500 kV Transmission Line - Third Circuit" and the "New Bicentennial 500/220 kV Substation."
In September, Group 3 will be awarded, consisting of four projects valued at $134 million, aimed at improving electrical infrastructure in Apurímac, Arequipa, Puno, and Lima. Notable projects include the "New Palca 220 kV Substation" and the "138 kV San Rafael – Ananea Diversion Link."
Finally, Group 4, with an investment of $101 million, will be awarded in December. These projects will benefit 700,000 residents in Ucayali, Junín, and Ancash, with key projects including the "220 kV Aguaytía – Pucallpa Link" and the "Increase in the Capacity and Reliability of the Huaraz Electric System Supply."
These contracts are part of a broader initiative under the 2023-2032 Transmission Plan, where ProInversión has already awarded Group 1 projects in June 2024.
