Power Grid Components ("PGC"), a Blackstone portfolio company, has acquired Vizimax Inc., a company renowned for its advanced solutions in managing high- and medium-voltage electric power systems, particularly in substation applications. Vizimax’s cutting-edge technology optimizes inrush currents, crucial for protecting power transformers and circuit breakers in substations, helping to extend the lifespan of these critical assets.
Rick McClure, founder and CEO of PGC, emphasized that the acquisition not only adds to their talent pool, led by Jean-Guy Lacombe, but also enhances their ability to offer unmatched protection for power devices within substations globally. The acquisition is expected to bolster grid reliability and safety, key factors in PGC’s expansion strategy.
Vizimax’s SynchroTeq product is especially valuable for substations, as it enables controlled switching at the optimal moment, minimizing wear on key components and ensuring the smooth operation of the electrical grid. The acquisition is poised to enhance PGC’s presence in North American and international markets, with an emphasis on expanding solutions that protect substations from operational risks.
“We are thrilled to join Power Grid Components and expand our ability to deliver innovative substation solutions,” said Jean-Guy Lacombe, President of Vizimax. The partnership is a strategic move to strengthen Vizimax’s capabilities and expand its presence, particularly in the U.S. market, while maintaining focus on grid reliability.
