Power transformer shortage in US makes circles
The US is facing significant disruptions due to a lack of power transformer supply, New Scientist reports.
This has held up progress in many areas, from the installation of electric vehicle infrastructure to the completion of new homes. It is reported that in some cases, construction has been completely stopped as new homes wait to be connected to the electricity grid. Additionally, utility companies fear how long it will take to restore power in the wake of hurricanes or other such events.
This shortage of transformers is causing delays to nationwide plans to modernise ageing electrical grids, with some seeing delays of several months or years.
