SWITZERLAND – Rauscher & Stoecklin (R&S) is to deliver 196 transformers to the main transmission and distribution system operator in Qatar.
196 oil-type distribution transformers are to be delivered in 2022 and 2023 to the main TSO in Quatar. All transformers will be manufactured in an R&S factory in Sissach, Switzerland, the manufacturer said in a press release.
R&S had to meet special requirements, including the transformers’ operating in demanding environments such as sandy conditions and temperatures around 50°C. Additional features include custom-designed cable boxes and special anticorrosive coating.
The transformers successfully passed the dynamic short circuit test that is routinely performed on distribution transformers. R&S company received test certificates for both 1000 kVA and the 1600 kVA transformers. The results confirmed that the testing unit passed the short circuit test according to IEC 60076-5. The tests were performed by KEMA in Arnhem, the Netherlands in a week in May 2021.
R&S is part of the Swiss-based R&S Group, a leading provider of electrical infrastructure products in key markets. Founded in 1919, the company is an established manufacturer of transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment.
