Reinhausen Manufacturing Inc. (RM), a subsidiary of Germany-based Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, is set to embark on a pivotal expansion of its facilities in Humboldt, Tennessee, to boost production capacity by 25 percent. This strategic move aims to address the rising demand for materials essential in the digitalization of the U.S. power grid. The $3.3 million investment includes the launch of RM's groundbreaking product line, ETOS® (Embedded Transformer Operating System), representing a leap forward in the automation and digitalization of power transformers.
The aging U.S. power grid is undergoing a crucial transformation, and RM's expansion is a timely response to the increasing need for digitalization components. CEO and President of RM, Bob Vary, emphasized the importance of a stable and reliable power supply for the nation's safety and productivity. The expansion and the introduction of ETOS will play a vital role in meeting these needs and supporting critical upgrades to the power grid.
ETOS, positioned as the world's first systemic solution for the automation and digitalization of power transformers, will be a significant milestone in advancing grid technology. The expansion in Humboldt will serve as a key element in the production and development of ETOS, helping bridge the gap in long lead times for materials that have been causing delays in grid upgrades.
The physical expansion, covering office space totaling 3,500 square feet, and and production space totaling 14,000 square feet, is not only a strategic move for Reinhausen but also promises local benefits. The Humboldt community will see additional property tax revenue, and the expansion is expected to create 14 new high-tech jobs in the area. The groundbreaking for this transformative initiative is scheduled by the end of 2023, with completion anticipated in early 2024.
