RHONA, Chile's leading transformer manufacturer, takes a giant leap by supplying a 100/133 MVA power transformer to Norwegian energy company Statkraft for a wind farm project, propelling them into international recognition.
Chile's top transformer manufacturer, RHONA, is making waves on the global stage with its recent accomplishment. When Norwegian energy giant Statkraft required a 100/133 MVA power transformer for a wind farm project, RHONA saw this as a golden opportunity. While RHONA had a rich history of constructing transformers, they had never ventured into this power class. This challenge didn't deter them; instead, they accepted it with enthusiasm. With their skilled workforce and a state-of-the-art facility in Viña del Mar, Chile, they embraced the challenge, stating, "Yes, we can and we want to do it; let’s win the tender!"
Statkraft, known for its ambitious hydroelectric and wind power projects, demanded a reliable transformer with advanced monitoring systems for their Chilean wind farms. RHONA stepped up to the plate, supported by MR, and secured the contract with their comprehensive solution. The result? A colossal 140-ton transformer, the largest ever produced in Chile, boasting 99.65% efficiency and operating at less than 61 decibels. RHONA's successful venture has now set its sights on international markets, targeting the US, where the demand for high-tech power transformers exceeds production capacity.
