Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has taken a significant stride towards advancing the NEOM mega-city's energy infrastructure by awarding a $198.3 million contract to Al Gihaz Contracting Company Saudi Arabia. The project encompasses the construction of the NEOM Mountain substation, a state-of-the-art indoor 380/132kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) situated within the futuristic NEOM city in Saudi Arabia.
This pivotal contract includes the installation of essential components such as GIS systems, power transformers, reactors, advanced protection and control systems, Substation Automation System, Telecommunication System, Security System, and robust Cybersecurity measures. Civil works and comprehensive Electro-mechanical installations are also integral to the scope of work. The NEOM Mountain BSP, as the substation is aptly named, plays a crucial role in bolstering the ambitious energy infrastructure project, marking a significant step forward in Saudi Arabia's pursuit of reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
In tandem with this development, Arabian Electrical Transmission Line Contracting (AETCON) recently secured a substantial $155 million contract from SEC for the construction of a high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line. This transmission line, stretching over 605 km, connects Yanbu, a key power production center on Saudi Arabia's western coast, to NEOM. The project's significance lies in its contribution to expanding the nation's power network and fostering a more robust energy ecosystem.
