Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd (SEIL) has announced plans to expand its transformer manufacturing capacity to meet growing market demand. The company’s board of directors approved the expansion during a meeting on February 11, 2025, according to a regulatory filing.
The expansion involves an investment of $ 1.5 million, which will be financed through internal accruals and/or borrowings. The initiative aims to increase the production capacity of medium power transformers by 1,500 MVA per year, enhancing the existing capacity from 5,500 MVA to 7,000 MVA at its plant in Vadodara, Gujarat. The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026 (FY26).
The Vadodara plant currently operates at a capacity utilization rate of 96%, highlighting the need for increased production capabilities to support the company’s growth ambitions in the medium power transformer market.
Additionally, SEIL reported a 13.8% increase in order inflows for the first nine months of FY25, Notable order wins included India’s first SF6-free switchgear, an inverter duty transformer for a 150-MW solar project, and various automation systems for utilities across India.
