
SGB-SMIT, a leading independent transformer manufacturer, has announced the acquisition of Southwest Electric Co., a U.S.-based electrical component manufacturer and service provider. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2025.
Founded in 1946, Southwest Electric Co. is headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK, with additional facilities in Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; and Louisville, OH. The company serves industries including oil & gas, utilities, wind power, and data centers.
Jeff Weingarten, President of Southwest Electric, stated that joining SGB-SMIT will accelerate the company’s growth and future prospects.
The SGB-SMIT Group, with decades of experience in transformer manufacturing, has been active in the U.S. market for years through its affiliate OTC in Louisville, OH. The acquisition will expand SGB-SMIT’s regional presence and strengthen its transformer and switchgear manufacturing capabilities.
