Shell Markets Middle East Limited announced at ADIPEC 2024 that MIDEL synthetic and natural ester-based transformer fluids will be available to customers in the Middle East starting in summer 2025. These advanced transformer fluids offer superior fire safety and operational efficiency compared to traditional mineral oils, providing critical benefits to sectors such as power generation, transmission, distribution, and offshore wind.
According to Haytham Yehia, General Manager of Shell Lubricants Middle East, Egypt & Central Asia, the introduction of MIDEL ester-based fluids is a “critical step” in providing Middle East customers with safer, more efficient transformer oils. Yehia emphasized that these fluids offer greater thermal stability and reduced maintenance demands, making them ideal for demanding applications in sectors that require high levels of reliability and efficiency.
Richard New, Managing Director of MIDEL & MIVOLT Fluids Ltd., stated that the availability of MIDEL fluids in the Middle East marks a significant advancement in transformer fluid technology. “Our fluids deliver benefits like enhanced fire resistance and longer operational life, which are essential for industries operating in harsh environments,” New noted.
