The Tucuruí Dam is located on the Tocantins River in the Tucuruí County in the State of Pará, Brazil.
The 25-unit Tucuruí plant is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world, with an installed capacity of 8,370 MW. The plant has been in operation since 1984.
Siemens Energy was commissioned to perform on-site repair of a 405 MVA - 550 kV power transformer. The works involved full winding replacement.
“Our team of field service technicians, engineers and experts are highly qualified and passionate about this work,” said Fernando Melo, Product Engineer and Product Development Specialist at Siemens Energy.
