BRAZIL — Siemens Energy has supplied power transformers for the newly energized GIS 440 kV substation as part of Bracell’s major infrastructure expansion project.
Bracell is a global manufacturer of dissolving pulp and specialty cellulose. Project Star is the company’s effort to expand its production capacity in order to reach 1.5 million tons per year.
The project involved the construction of a new mill in Lençóis Paulista in the Central West region of São Paulo State, which included building a GIS substation.
Siemens Energy was commissioned to supply three 140 MVA power transformers for the substation. In cooperation with Sendi and I.G. Transmission and Distribution of Energy, the main power line, substation and transformers for the Lençóis Paulista mill were energized in May 2021.
By the time it is completed, Project Star is expected to represent the largest private investment in the State of São Paulo in the past 20 years. Expansion works should be completed by the end of 2021, the company said in a press release.
