Start Campus has entered into a €20 million ($22.3 million) agreement with Siemens Energy for the provision of transformers to support its ambitious 1.2GW Sines DC campus in Portugal. The contract includes supplying equipment for the campus's SIN02-06 buildings, with the first phase, SIN01, set to go live in Q4 2024.
The newly signed deal will support SIN02, which is projected to expand to 180MW after its launch in 2026. The partnership strengthens the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, which began with Siemens Energy’s involvement in powering SIN01.
Rob Dunn, CEO of Start Campus, emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating, "Placing this order with Siemens Energy highlights our unwavering commitment to meet the growing demands of our customers and deliver on our promises while setting new industry standards."
Mark Pilling, VP of Grid Solutions for Europe and Africa at Siemens Energy, added, "Together with Start Campus, we are committed to advancing the development of critical digital infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of the data center industry and sets new benchmarks at large scale."
This deal follows a challenging period for Start Campus, as the company recently appointed Dunn as its permanent CEO after a corruption scandal that led to the arrest of the previous CEO and the resignation of the country’s prime minister.
