Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - Such grid innovations will not only make it easier to integrate renewable energy into the system, but also optimize grid capacities.
Tim Meyerjürgens, COO / Member of the Executive Board at TenneT has announced that TenneT and Avacon Gruppe have jointly developed new software with which the network control centers in Lehrte and Salzgitter can communicate with each other automatically. This so-called "Automatic Relief Control" (AEK) is a special smart grid technology with which transformers in substations can be controlled automatically, intelligently and with foresight and thus be used to a higher capacity.
According to Meyerjürgens, the use of this technology is promising and comes at exactly the right time. In the long term, such grid innovations will not only make it easier to integrate renewable energy into the system, but also optimize grid capacities.
