The Tipp City Council has approved several key contracts to advance the development of Substation No. 4, a critical infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the city’s power capabilities. Tipp City, a small community located just north of Dayton, Ohio, is making significant investments to modernize its power systems and support future growth.
Among the contracts approved, the power transformer stands out as a major component of the project. The council awarded a contract to Virginia Transformer Corporation of Roanoke, valued at $1,048,969, for the supply of this essential equipment. The power transformer will play a pivotal role in increasing the capacity and reliability of the city’s electrical grid, ensuring a stable power supply for residents and businesses.
Other approved contracts include:
- Tatman Associates, Cleveland – structures, bussing, and switches ($724,760)
- Anixter Inc., Hamilton – vacuum circuit breakers ($327,697.65)
- Robert S. Howley Co., Columbus – circuit switcher ($199,960)
- Myers Controlled Power, Canton – indoor switchgear ($766,475)
- SEL, West Lafayette – relay and control panels ($200,647)
- Peak Electric, West Toledo – voltage regulators ($471,012)
In addition to these agreements, the council passed a $150,000 transfer to the Community Improvement Corporation of Tipp City to support redevelopment projects and a revolving loan program aimed at revitalizing the Uptown area.
Other council business included the introduction of ordinances on budget adjustments and bond anticipation notes for $4.5 million, with a vote set for the next meeting. The council also consolidated upcoming workshops into a single session on September 30 and approved the Downtown Tipp City Partnership's permit for the 2024 Harvest Fest Street Party in October.
