MODENA, ITALY — The transformer manufacturer Elettromeccanica Tironi has performed the factory acceptance test (FAT) on two power transformers for a Norwegian hydropower plant.
At the beginning of March, the company carried out the testing of two 95 MVA transformers with a 426/14 kV ratio.
The transformers, which are to be equipped with oil / SF6 insulators in the final installation, were tested with temporary oil / air insulators. The heating test was carried out by connecting them to the water circuit for the Oil Forced Water Forced (OFWF) transformer tests.
The FAT was performed both in the presence of the Norwegian customer’s consultant and remotely, with the customer connected to the manufacturer’s UHV Test Lab trough the Tironi Remote FAT system.
The first unit has been transported from the Modena factory and is on its way to the Norwegian site where Elettromeccanica Tironi is also in charge of removing and replacing the old units and the 420 kV SF6 busbar.
