Trench Group GmbH, a global leader in high-voltage power transmission components and systems, is set to expand its footprint in North America with the establishment of a new transformer bushing production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The plant, which is expected to begin operations in early 2026, will focus on manufacturing advanced bushing technology for the U.S. power grid, including components capable of handling voltages up to 800 kV.
The investment, totaling more than $60 million, will enable Trench Group’s subsidiary, HSP US, LLC, to meet the growing demand for electricity driven by expanding energy infrastructure and the rise of artificial intelligence and data centers. In the interim, HSP Canada has increased production capabilities to support the North American market.
At full capacity, the facility will cover 20,000 square meters and feature cutting-edge high-voltage testing labs. The strategic location in Charlotte offers access to a highly skilled workforce and proximity to key transformer manufacturers. This move further solidifies Trench Group’s commitment to sustainable energy growth and enhancing supply chain efficiency in North America.
Dr. Bahadir Basdere, CEO of Trench Group, emphasized that this expansion will contribute to the region's energy infrastructure while creating job opportunities and ensuring long-term growth in the North American market.
