Trench Italia Srl, originally founded as "Scarpa e Magnano" in Savona in 1919, was recently bestowed with the esteemed "Impresa Storica" recognition by the Camera di Commerce di Savona. The accolade celebrates the company's century-long integration with the technological advancements in Italy.
Founded by Angelo Magnano and Giovanni Scarpa, pioneers in the Italian electric power plant, Trench Italia has consistently revolutionized the repair of electrical equipment and the production of measurement transformers and electrical switches. The company's journey began with a focus on amplifying the ripple of electrical equipment in 1921, leading to a significant increase in employees from about twenty in 1919 to one hundred twenty in 1926.
A pivotal moment occurred in 1926 when the company, under the stewardship of Benedetto Maria Solari, moved from Fiume to Savona. Edison's acquisition of the majority stake in 1939 marked a restructuring, with Magnano becoming the CEO. Subsequent mergers and changes culminated in Trench Italy becoming a world leader in high-voltage transformers in 2006. Today, with 180 employees, the company operates under the direction of Siemens Energy S.r.l. in Milan.
This recognition highlights Trench Italia's transformative journey, from its early days in Savona to its current standing as a global powerhouse in the production of high-voltage transformers.
