WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $3.1 billion to build or improve rural electric infrastructure in 25 states.
USDA is investing in 53 grid stabilization and construction projects through the Electric Loan Program to benefit 1.4 million rural residents and businesses in 25 states.
21 of the loans awarded by USDA in 2020 will help expand smart grid technologies and finance nearly 23,000 new line-miles of smart grid fiber, USDA said in a press release.
