WACO, Texas, April 24, 2025 – VanTran Transformers and MGM Transformers have officially opened a new 430,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Waco, Texas, marking a significant expansion of domestic transformer production capacity.
The facility, which follows the companies’ merger in 2024, is set to create 700 high-quality jobs over the next five years. Once fully operational, it will add over $1 billion in annual transformer production capacity, helping address growing demand from data centers, renewable energy projects, EV charging infrastructure, and utilities.
The new plant will specialize in custom liquid-filled transformers, complementing the combined company’s existing expertise in dry-type technologies. According to the companies, this investment is part of a broader strategy to reinforce the U.S. energy supply chain, advance electrification goals, and support industrial reshoring efforts.
The Waco expansion underlines the role of U.S.-based manufacturing in ensuring energy security and meeting the increasing power demands of a digital and decarbonized economy.
