Voltamp Transformers Ltd has placed long-lead orders for plant and machinery for its upcoming transformer manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The new plant, under construction at Jarod in Vadodara district, is set to have an initial annual capacity of 6,000 MVA in the first phase. The facility will produce transformers up to 250 MVA capacity in the 220kV class, with potential for future capacity expansion based on market demand.
The capital investment for the plant is approximately $2.4 million, which will be financed through internal accruals. Voltamp Transformers currently operates two manufacturing units in Gujarat, located at Makarpura and Vadadla.
In terms of business strategy, Voltamp Transformers is aiming for full capacity utilization in the ongoing fiscal year, FY26. The company has confirmed that it already has orders in place to ensure 100% utilization. Notably, Voltamp Transformers will only be booking orders with a delivery period of up to nine months, citing supply chain constraints that could potentially erode margins with longer delivery times.
As of May 3, 2025, Voltamp's order book stands at $13.55 million, or 9,856 MVA in physical terms. This represents a growth from the $10.09 million order book at the beginning of FY25.
