Vishvas Power Engineering Services Limited (VPESL) has achieved a significant milestone by dispatching its first batch of indigenously manufactured 2x25 KV AC traction system transformers to locations in Bihar and Jharkhand for Indian Railways. This marks VPESL's entry into critical manufacturing of specialized transformers, previously imported for railway electrification projects.
The dispatch ceremony, held at VPESL's Butibori facility, was attended by key figures including Satish Aney, Chief Engineer of Maharashtra State Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL); Basudeb Banerjee, Business Head of Railway Electrification Unit at Blue Star; Dr. Kishor Malviya, President of Butibori Manufacturers Association (BMA); and Vijay Sharma, Chief Manager of Canara Bank. Rajiv Bhave, Managing Director of VPESL, along with other company members, also participated in the event.
VPESL's accomplishment as the first Micro Small Medium Enterprise (MSME) to manufacture these transformers in India represents a significant leap towards self-reliance in critical infrastructure components. The 2x25 KV AC transformers are designed to support high-end propulsion, enabling trains to operate at speeds up to 160 km/hr, crucial for India's future semi-high-speed rail network.
