MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL – WEG SA, a global electrical equipment manufacturer headquartered in Brazil, announced it has acquired a transformer plant in Betim, Minas Gerais state, from Transformadores e Serviços de Energia das Américas SA (TSEA).
Built in 2013, the factory is equipped with the latest equipment and facilities, WEG said in the press release.
With 250 employees, the facility is specialized in the manufacture of power transformers, shunt reactors and autotransformers with voltage up to 800 kV and power up to 500 MVA.
“The acquisition of the Betim plant leaves WEG in a privileged position to meet the important investments in infrastructure that should occur in the Americas in the coming years,” said Carlos Diether Prinz, WEG's Transmission & Distribution unit manager.
