WEG Chile has successfully supplied a 435-ton transformer to a key national player in renewable energies, intended for a wind farm in northern Chile. This equipment is set to be a vital component in generating clean energy for around 700,000 homes and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 1.4 million tons annually.
The transformer, which has a capacity of 350 MVA and a voltage of 550VDC/33kV, is the heaviest ever manufactured by WEG. It will soon be installed in the wind farm, which aims to become one of the largest in Chile with an installed capacity of 793.6 MW. The project is part of a broader effort to boost Chile's renewable energy infrastructure, focusing on the promotion, construction, and operation of electricity generation facilities from renewable sources.
This delivery marks an important development in Chile's move towards renewable energy and represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the country.
