St Marys Cement Inc., a subsidiary of Votorantim Cimentos North America, has acquired specially designed WEG Transformers to enhance the substation of its plant in Bowmanville, Canada. These transformers are tailored to function efficiently in extreme cold, with temperatures plummeting to -35ºC.
The project entails the delivery of four transformers with power capacities of 20 and 25 MVA and voltages of 43.8/4.16 kV. This collaboration involved the sales and engineering teams from Brazil working closely with V.J Pamensky Canada Inc., which has been the exclusive distributor of WEG in Canada for 47 years.
To maintain optimal performance in such harsh conditions, these transformers are filled with a special oil that retains the necessary viscosity at low temperatures. They are also equipped with on-load tap changers and are programmed to operate at a frequency of 60 Hz, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
By utilizing advanced insulation technologies and materials suited for low temperatures, WEG's transformers provide an ideal solution for companies aiming to enhance operational efficiency in challenging environments.
