AUSTRALIA – Wilson Transformer Company, a manufacturer of power and distribution transformers, has supplied two power transformers for the Victorian Big Battery project.
The Victorian Big Battery is a 300 MW grid-scale battery storage project in Geelong in the Australian state of Victoria. The project should provide enough energy in reserve to power over one million Victorian homes.
The manufacturer Wilson Transformer Company has supplied two 180 MVA 220/33 kV power transformers for the project. The transformers were delivered to a site in Moorabool, near Geelong. Both units have been successfully energised, the manufacturer said in a news release.
The battery has a 250 MW grid service contract with AEMO under direction from the Victorian Government. It will support Victoria’s clean energy transition and secure reliable, affordable power for Victorians, helping the state meet its renewable energy target of 50% by 2030.
