The Women in Power Systems community has launched the spring edition of their magazine: Professions in Power.
The issue explores various roles women play in the power industry and opportunities for women in different professions, including management, engineering and skilled trades.
Through collaboration with like-minded organizations, such as Women’s Engineering Society, Women of Powerline Technicians, Skills Ontario and Electric Power Reliability Alliance, Women in Power Systems offer insights into the position of women in the power industry, facilitate connections, share business opportunities and provide a space where women in different positions and professions can have a voice.
WPS places emphasis on advocacy as one of their main goals. To this end, the organization has assembled an expert Advisory Board and is inviting new members to join and contribute to quality advocacy campaigns.
Rachel Linke, Chair of the WPS Steering Committee, said: “Part of Women in Power Systems is not only to encourage and build women up and give them a voice, but also to advocate for more women in this industry. That is something that we really want to push forward and encourage women to look at the power industry as an option.
