Nexans has signed an agreement to acquire Electro Cables Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of low-voltage cable systems, in a deal valued at approximately $135 million (around €125 million). The acquisition aims to strengthen Nexans' PWR-Connect business and enhance its presence in Canada's growing electrification market.
Founded in 1985 and based in Trenton, Ontario, Electro Cables is a family-owned company specializing in high-performance, service-driven cable solutions. It serves fast-growing sectors including infrastructure, data centers, gigafactories, powered transportation, renewable energy, and critical facilities such as healthcare. The company operates two industrial sites, employs around 200 people, and reported roughly $135 million in sales for the twelve months ending July 2025.
The acquisition, which will be fully financed in cash, is expected to be EPS accretive in its first year. Nexans said the move complements its Canadian portfolio and will improve local supply chain efficiency while supporting its SHIFT performance program.
Julien Hueber, CEO of Nexans, said the deal aligns with the company's ambition to become a "pure player in electrification." Gord Davis, CEO of Electro Cables, called it a "significant milestone" in the company's 40-year history of quality and service.
The acquisition reinforces Nexans' commitment to the North American market and supports its strategy to deliver sustainable growth through electrification and innovation.
