Nordex Group Secures 49 MW Wind Turbine Order in Germany
Nordex Group has secured an order to supply wind turbines for a 49 MW community wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, marking another project in the country’s growing onshore wind sector.
The project, known as Heek-Strönfeld, is being developed by Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld GmbH & Co. KG. Under the agreement, Nordex Group will deliver seven N175/6.X wind turbines with a hub height of 179 meters. The contract also includes a 25-year Premium Service agreement designed to support long-term turbine operation and maintenance.
Installation of the turbines is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027, with commissioning expected in the third quarter of 2027.
The wind farm will be located in the Borken district in Münsterland, near the Nordex Group’s service point in Steinfurt, which the company says will allow for faster response times and efficient technical support.
According to Christoph Wischemann, managing director of Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld GmbH & Co. KG, the project highlights the benefits of collaborative community energy initiatives, including reduced reliance on fossil fuel imports and increased regional economic participation.
Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil, Director Sales Region Central at Nordex Group, said the project reflects continued demand for the company’s N175/6.X turbine platform, noting that the order also represents the first collaboration with the Bürgerwind developer.
Community wind projects are playing an increasing role in Germany’s energy transition, enabling local residents, municipalities, and cooperatives to participate directly in renewable energy development.
